Samsung may have canceled Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite

Samsung is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phones in the coming weeks, which are the newest devices in the company’s pioneering foldable range. But it sounds like the manufacturer has been considering a cheaper foldable one.
The Korea Herald News agency reports that Samsung is expected to launch a Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite on August 11th, in addition to the other two foldable devices mentioned above, more affordable price. “
However, the existence of a Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite has been questioned by display industry insider Ross Young. The display analyst asserts last week that the Lite model was canceled due to the ongoing chip shortage in the industry.
Young too asserts that the price of the Z Flip 3 will correspond to the supposed Lite model (see tweet above). We usually take the analysts’ non-display-related posts with a pinch of salt, but we’ve already heard rumors of a cheaper price for the Z Flip 3.
It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of a potentially cheaper Galaxy Z Flip model in addition to a standard version. Already in December 2020, ET news reported that Samsung is working on two Z flip phones with “different performance and functions” for 2021. So it certainly sounds like the manufacturer worked on two Z Flip 3 devices at some point, but it’s unclear if this is still the case.
We also heard of a cheaper Galaxy Fold device in 2020 when UBI Research and tipster Max Weinbach claimed a so-called Galaxy Z Fold Lite or Z Fold FE was on the way. We’d definitely welcome much cheaper Samsung foldables, but it sounds like you shouldn’t hold your breath for a launch in 2021.
