One of the more annoying practices on smartphones today is that some companies are offering ads in their Android software. Notable culprits in this regard are Realme, Xiaomi, and Samsung. But now the latter company has reportedly announced a change of heart.

According to the news agency, Roh said the ads would be removed via One UI software updates. However, it is unclear whether this will happen in the next major update or later. It is also unknown whether this change is limited to Korea or applies to global markets as well.
We contacted Samsung to find out which apps are affected and if it was a global change. We will update the story when / when the company contacts us.
Still, this would definitely be a step in the right direction for the company. We conducted a survey a little over a year ago when news of ads came up on One UI for the first time and over 90% of readers surveyed said they would refuse to buy a Samsung phone if it did Ads would have. This may not represent the average consumer, but it does show that a remarkable number of people hate the practice.
