  • Samsung is reportedly adding high refresh rate screens to its Galaxy A series for the first time.
  • The Galaxy A52 and A72 are said to have 90 Hz screens, while the A52 5G could have a 120 Hz panel.

Samsung only offered high refresh rate screens on its flagship phones. The Galaxy S series, Galaxy Note series, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 all offer 120 Hz displays.

Now, it looks like Samsung may be adding high refresh rate screens to its budget-conscious Galaxy A series for the first time. According to SamMobileThe upcoming Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 both offer a 90 Hz screen. It’s not quite 120Hz like the company’s flagships, but it should still be an improvement over the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

Fortunately, SamMobile claims that the Galaxy A52 5G will offer a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is likely due to the fact that the phone includes a more powerful Snapdragon 750G chipset compared to the less powerful Snapdragon 720G SoC found in the A52 and A72. It’s worth noting, however, that even Snapdragon 765G phones struggled to hit 90 fps or 120 fps in our benchmark tests, even though overall performance was still smooth. So we would expect a similar scenario with the Galaxy A52 5G.

The new 5G phone also offers a 6.5-inch OLED screen, 6 GB to 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB to 256 GB of storage and a 4,500 mAh battery with 25 W charging time. The outlet adds that the phone also has a 64-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide snapper, a 5-megapixel macro camera, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter disposes.

In both cases, Samsung appears to be catching up with competitors like Motorola, Xiaomi and OnePlus by offering high refresh rate panels on cheaper phones.
