Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 might miss glucose monitor

- Early rumors suggested the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 might land with blood glucose monitoring.
- However, a new report from South Korea suggests that this rumor is not true.
- This news is unfortunate as millions of people with diabetes would have appreciated such a feature.
Here in the United States, 34.2 million people have diabetes. That’s roughly one in ten Americans, which is an amazing number. For diabetics, monitoring blood sugar levels can be an uncomfortable burden as it usually involves invasive technologies.
Early rumors suggested that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 might offer a non-intrusive solution by offering a built-in blood glucose meter. This rumor came from ET news, a South Korean outlet. However, we now have a report from another Korean source that denies this rumor (h / t) SamMobile).

If so, it will likely be disappointing to the millions of diabetics who looked forward to trying the Galaxy Watch 4 for just that one feature. Granted, the news that the feature was coming – and the news that it wasn’t – are both rumors. It is still possible for Samsung to launch the watch with a glucose monitoring system.
Interestingly, this new report also repeats another popular rumor related to the Galaxy Watch line, namely that it could be released without Tizen OS. Instead of the internal operating system from Samsung, the Wear OS platform from Google would be used. This would make the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 the first Google-operated Samsung wearable since around 2014.
We expect the Galaxy Watch 4 and a new Galaxy Watch Active model to hit the market in the coming months. Stay tuned for more rumors!
