- Samsung introduced the Galaxy SmartTag Item Tracker.
- Like Tile, the bluetooth device helps you find lost bags, keys and other items.
- A Samsung SmartTag costs $ 29.99 and is included with every pre-order for the Galaxy S21.
The Galaxy S21 isn’t the only star at the Samsung Unpacked event in January. True to the rumors, Samsung launched the Galaxy SmartTag Item Tracker to provide mainstays like Tile’s new competition.
As with similar devices, you can attach the bluetooth device to objects that you want to track, whether it’s your bag, a keychain, or a pet’s collar. From there, you can use Samsung SmartThings Find to locate the Galaxy SmartTag and hopefully restore any lost items. It’s not the most useful device in a pandemic when you’re likely to be staying at home, but it should come in handy when it’s safe to mingle with other people.

Samsung will release the GalaxyTag on January 29th at a price of $ 29.99. However, you may not have to pay anything extra to get one. The company offers a free SmartTag with every pre-order for the Galaxy S21. If you’ve already decided on one of the new flagship smartphones, it’s practically free.
It’s not certain how well the Galaxy SmartTag can hold up against Tile and similar competitors. However, this is not an unexpected step. Rumors that Apple is making an AirTag article tracker have been around for well over a year. Whether that product hits the market or not, Samsung can offer the SmartTag as the answer and keep more people in its ecosystem.
