Samsung Galaxy S30 series gearing up for earlier January launch

  • Another report from Korea confirms rumors of an early launch for the Samsung Galaxy S30.
  • The phone series is scheduled to appear in January 2021. Sales will begin this month.
  • That would be about a month before the Galaxy S20 debuts.

According to another report from South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy S30 series will hit the market a month earlier than originally expected.

Per Maeil business (h / t: Sleepy Kuma) the Galaxy S30 will be available in late January after an early unpacked event. Some regions may not see the device until early February, but that could likely be before the Galaxy S20’s February 11 launch date and well before the March availability date.

This is the latest report to back up early claims of a rush launch for Samsung’s updated flagship line. Samsung traditionally steals the launch spotlight from companies that showcase merchandise at MWC. However, the Barcelona-based storefront will be postponed until the end of June 2021, but the optimized date of the show is unlikely to affect Samsung’s decision. The real reason seems to be inspired by business opportunities.

Maeil businessThe source claims that Samsung’s revamped launch is a response to Huawei’s ongoing calamity. The company is reportedly jumping to fill the void the ailing Chinese smartphone maker left in the wake of the US trade dispute. Samsung recaptured the title of the world’s largest smartphone maker from Huawei in the third quarter of 2020, and an early flagship launch could be key to continuing that momentum.

It is possible that Samsung intends to improve its flagship sales numbers too. In May it was reported that the Galaxy S20 line was well below expectations, especially when compared to the Galaxy S10 series.

Samsung has yet to confirm the launch date of its upcoming flagships, but it’s getting more and more likely that we’ll see them a little earlier than expected.
