  • The Samsung Galaxy S22 series may not change much when it comes to camera specs.
  • A new leak suggests that Samsung won’t be using its new 200 MP sensor on the phones.
  • The highest resolution camera could be a 108 MP sensor on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Camera specs and some other details of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series have been leaked. According to Korean publication TheElec, Samsung will again be releasing three models of the Galaxy S22 series, internally codenamed “Rainbow”.

It’s no surprise that we’ll see the Vanilla Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra in the flagship lineup. However, if you expected to find Samsung’s newly announced 200 MP camera sensor there, you will be disappointed.

Citing sources, the report notes that like the reigning Galaxy S21 Ultra, the top-end Galaxy S22 Ultra will again have a 108 MP primary sensor. It will have three more cameras, including a 12 MP ultra-wide shooter. Both the 108 MP and the 12 MP sensor should have optical image stabilization. There is no 3D time-of-flight (ToF) sensor.

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is supposed to house a 40-megapixel selfie shooter. Again, this is the same setup as the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

In the meantime, the standard Galaxy S22 and Plus models are expected to receive identical camera specifications. According to the report, both would pack a triple camera array with 3x optical zoom and a 10 MP camera on the front.

Samsung is also said to be pairing the Galaxy S22 Ultra with an S Pen.

The outlet goes on to say that Samsung will begin mass production of the new Galaxies in November, with availability scheduled for January 2022.
