Samsung Galaxy Note series could get one last phone before its demise

There could be at least one Galaxy Note next year before Samsung rolls out the series. Korean media ET news reports that Samsung will eventually merge the Galaxy S and Note lines by adding an S-Pen to the former. However, the company could still launch a Galaxy Note series phone next year, presumably the Galaxy Note 21.
This isn’t the first time Samsung has completely scrapped the Note series. Just last week, another Korean business newspaper reported that Samsung was adding the S-Pen to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and will finally end the Note series. The latest report repeats that information as well, but cites a smartphone industry official who said Samsung will be phasing out the line with a final Note phone.
“It is likely that there will only be one model of the new Note series, which will appear in the second half of 2021,” said the unnamed industry expert ET news. “Samsung Electronics will focus more on foldable smartphones in the second half of 2021 than on the next Note series,” the person added.
Load surveyThe report further notes that Samsung plans to launch several foldable phones in 2021. But before that, the company wants to do more research and development for both ultra-thin glass and the digitizer. The latter facilitates S-Pen input and must be foldable in order to be implemented on the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Rumors have been circulating since 2018 that Samsung is dropping the Note series. At one point, the company was reportedly debating a new name for the unified Galaxy S and Note line. While we haven’t heard any more rumors about it this year, the Note series’ demise seems certain. Samsung has not yet confirmed these reports, but we may receive an update from the company during the alleged January launch event for the Galaxy S21 series.
