Samsung Galaxy Note 20 production slowed markedly in October
- According to a report from Korea, Samsung produced far fewer Galaxy Note 20 devices than expected in October.
- The smartphone giant produced around 67% of its planned units per month.
- The slowdown could point to the dwindling demand for the Galaxy Note 20 line or add further credibility to an earlier Galaxy S30 debut.
We are three months in the life of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series and the Korean OEM is apparently missing projections. According to a report by The ElecThe production of the Galaxy Note 20 series from Samsung is already slowing down significantly.
According to the Korean publication, the smartphone maker only produced 600,000 of its planned 900,000 Note 20 series devices in October. Samsung also produces more Galaxy Note 20 Ultra devices than standard Note 20 models. The publication said the drop in production was worse for the vanilla model. The ratio is reportedly 2: 1 in favor of the larger phone, possibly pointing to the Galaxy Note 20’s questionable value.

It’s unclear why Samsung is slowing down production on its current flagship. The Note 20 series, launched in August, may have been impacted by sputter production and lower global shipments during the global pandemic.
Samsung increases production of the Galaxy S30
The slowdown could also suggest that phone line sales are not impressive. The sales of the Samsung Galaxy S20 weren’t remarkable either. The early 2020 flagship line shipped far fewer shipments in the first quarter of this year than the Galaxy S10 in the first quarter of 2019, despite COVID-19 playing a role. It is possible that the Galaxy Note 20 will be overshadowed by the Note 10, which had even stronger sales than the Note 9.
Samsung may also be preparing to expand production of the Galaxy S30 series. The company’s next flagship line is expected to be due in January 2021, almost a month ahead of what was originally expected. With an alleged launch in just over two months, the new devices are likely to shift production priority off the Note 20 line.
The Elec According to Samsung, two million Galaxy S30 devices will be shipped for the first time next year.
