Samsung Galaxy F could be the firm’s new camera-first phone series

If you thought two midsize Samsung smartphone lines just weren’t enough, you’re in luck. The company is to introduce another mid-range smartphone series in India with the Galaxy F line.
According to a report by 91MobileThe Galaxy F line will join the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series in the region and will be sold online under the rupee 20,000 (~ $ 272) mark.
To differentiate this series from its two sibling lines, it is reported that Samsung will focus on the Galaxy F’s photographic capabilities. However, this might be harder than it sounds, considering how well equipped the Galaxy M devices are.
Why Galaxy F when Galaxy M is enough?
Take the Galaxy M31, for example, which is available at a similar price. It’s being overwritten by a 64MP primary sensor with three more rear snappers in tow. The phone also has a 6.5-inch display and 6,000 mAh battery that covers the basics.
The rumored sticker price of the Galaxy F doesn’t give Samsung much leeway to set it apart from the Galaxy M line. It’s also not immediately apparent how it could significantly improve camera performance at this price point. The Galaxy F line could have more subtle improvements like optical image stabilization, larger sensors, and more specialized lenses.
However, with the launch of another series, Samsung runs the risk of oversaturating the Indian market and cannibalizing its existing offerings.
In addition to its own family, Samsung also has to look over the shoulder of its competitors. Poco X2 and Realme 6 Pro cost well under Rs 20,000 and also use quad camera arrays with 64 megapixel primary sensors.
91Mobile believes the first Samsung Galaxy F device will be available later this month.
