- Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360, its first Windows laptops with AMOLED screens.
- Both are thinner and lighter, with 11th generation Intel Core CPUs and tighter integration with Samsung mobile devices.
- They are available for pre-order now, starting at $ 999.99 / £ 1,099 for the Pro and US $ 1,199.99 / £ 1,199 for the Pro 360.
How is Samsung building on its mobile-influenced laptops from last year? By making them appear even more like the Galaxy phone in your pocket. The company launched Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 convertible portables that borrow more mobile design features and integrate more closely with the Samsung ecosystem.
The Galaxy Book Pro range is Samsung’s first Windows PC range with AMOLED screens – no QLEDs as in previous systems or the Galaxy Chromebook 2. The 13- and 15-inch displays available in every laptop range are designed for one resolution limited by 1080p. Even so, you still get the virtually infinite contrast ratio and bolder colors you’ve likely seen on your Samsung phone. An Intelligent Color Engine can switch between vivid and precise image profiles depending on the task. So you shouldn’t have to make any settings to edit your latest photos.
Both Galaxy Book Pro devices also offer better portability like a phone. The 13-inch Galaxy Book Pro weighs just over 1.9 pounds and is only 0.44 inches thick – you won’t mistake it for a handset, but it doesn’t feel like a load in your pocket. The Pro 360 isn’t surprisingly heavier, given nearly 2.3 pounds of tablet functionality, but is just as thin.

Yes, there is expanded support for the rest of your Samsung hardware. The simple Bluetooth connection promises easy pairing with AirPods for your Galaxy Buds. The Galaxy Book Pro range is also Samsung’s first line of PCs to integrate the SmartThings app for home automation and track your lost devices with find tags. You can also expect a macOS Sidecar-like option to use your Galaxy tablet as a second screen.
Connected: The best laptops you can buy
Whichever laptop you choose, it should be relatively fast. All Galaxy Book Pro laptops use 11th generation core processors and meet Intel’s increased Evo specifications with built-in Iris Xe graphics, a Thunderbolt 4 port (plus two USB-C ports and microSD), and Wi-Fi 6. There are some design improvements, including a more comfortable keyboard, a 23% larger trackpad, and an S-pen 2.5 times thicker, which should be more comfortable for sketching and taking notes. Don’t expect jaw-dropping Zoom calls – all models come with 720p webcams.

Samsung has not given any battery life information for the Galaxy Book Pro series, although the Evo program requires a battery life of at least nine hours. Whenever you need to refill, the 65 W fast charge support via USB-C should be able to get you back up and running relatively quickly.
The systems can be pre-ordered today and will ship on May 14th. Prices for the regular Galaxy Book Pro start at $ 999.99 / £ 1,099 for a 13 “variant and $ 1,099.99 / £ 1,199 for the 15” counterpart. The Pro 360’s touch input increases the price to $ 1,199.99 / £ 1,199.99 for a 13-inch PC and to $ 1,299.99 / £ 1,249 for the 15-inch edition. So these are premium laptops, but they can be justified if you either crave portability or are successful in the Samsung universe.
