Samsung built a more affordable Galaxy Chromebook
TL; DR
- Samsung quietly introduced the entry-level Galaxy Chromebook Go.
- The Chrome OS laptop comes with modest specs, although you can add LTE to it.
- At this point, neither availability nor prices are mentioned.
If you can’t justify the hassle on Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook 2, don’t worry – there should be a cheaper option soon. Android police reports that the company has been quietly releasing details on the Galaxy Chromebook Go, an entry-level Chrome OS device that blends familiar design with affordable hardware.

The Galaxy Chromebook Go has a slightly larger 14-inch screen compared to its high-end counterpart’s 13-inch display, but otherwise you look for a modest portable device. You will have to settle for a standard 768p LCD instead of the 1080p QLED panel for now. There’s only one Celeron N4500 chip inside (no Core i3 option here), and the base configuration comes with 32GB of expandable storage compared to the Galaxy Chromebook 2’s 64GB. Versions with up to 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage are available.
That’s not to say you will be without any comfort. The Chromebook Go comes with a Wi-Fi 6 network and has the option of LTE for constant internet access. This is also a relatively easy-to-carry system that weighs just under 3.2 pounds.
Samsung has not given a release date or price for the Galaxy Chromebook Go as of this writing. However, the official specs suggest it is relatively close, and there is no doubt that it will be cheaper than the $ 549 Galaxy Chromebook 2. Think of this as the spiritual successor to the Chromebook 4 series. It’s a no-frills laptop that combines the latest Samsung design features with budget-friendly components and may be suitable for distance learning, working from home, or everyday web browsing.
