Mark Ellis is a stand-up comedian and the host of Versus, Rotten Tomatoes’ YouTube show, in which he competes against two films or TV shows to find out which ones are better. There is something for everyone: for example, there is an episode of Jaws vs. Jurassic Park and one where The Office competes against friends.
In a new episode of CNET’s “I’m So Obsessed” podcast, Ellis talks about his life as a stand-up and working with Rotten Tomatoes and what he saw during the pandemic.
Basketball was a big topic. He admits having seen the ESPN Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance several times and enjoys reliving the 1990s Chicago Bulls through 2020 social media.
“It was great to go back in time and relive everything I already knew about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. But having this conversation on social media and with my friends in 2020 was for me so cool. ” said Ellis. “There were things in it that I wasn’t familiar with or that I learned for the first time. But a lot of it is like, ‘Oh, I remember it.’ And ‘Oh, I forgot that.’ “
