Rivian plucked former Tesla workers to work on charging network, report says

Sounds like Rivian has some big plans.

Rivian

Rivian makes movements. Despite reports that the company has recently fired 40 employees, the Michigan-based electric car startup has also reportedly hired some significant people from Tesla.

After one Electrek On Tuesday, Rivian hired three executives, all of whom had previously worked for Tesla. In particular, they each worked on Tesla’s charging program. The three new employees are Carrington Bradley, a seven-year-old Tesla veteran who was previously part of the charging program, Sara Eslinger, who worked on the charging infrastructure at Tesla for six years, and Kit Ahuja, a former Tesla manager.

Bradley is the only one who apparently jumped directly from Tesla to Rivian, while Eslinger and Ahuja had taken on new roles elsewhere before Rivian’s hiring. Rivian did not immediately return a request for comment on reported layoffs or new hires.

The three new leaders are reported to be working on a rival Tesla Supercharger network, supposedly called the “Rivian Adventure Network”. According to the website’s sources, however, this network is not as extensive as the Supercharger network. As Rivian vehicles support the CCS charging standard, they have access to numerous stations that are already online across the country. Rivian’s charging stations are designed to help fill the gaps in rural areas.

A charging system isn’t everything Rivian likely has in the pipeline. We recently learned that the company is likely to offer its own Insurance program, like Tesla, and could implement its own collision centers. It all comes as Rivian after that Corona virus Pandemic, although the spread of COVID-19 led to the company Push first deliveries from his R1T electric pickup and R1S SUV They were originally scheduled to begin shipping later this year.
