Reno 911! star Cedric Yarbrough is obsessed with Ozark on Netflix

Cedric Yarbrough is a very fun man. You can recognize his robust voice from cartoons such as Netflix’s BoJack Horseman, in which he played Officer Meow Meow Fuzzyface or the neighbor Tom DuBois on The Boondocks. Or you recognize his face as Vic from The Goldbergs or when he played Deputy Jones on the wildly funny Reno 911 !. During an interview in CNET’s new podcast I’m So Obsessed, Yarbrough spoke about returning to Deputy Jones, 11 years after the show ended with new 8-minute mini-episodes of Reno 911 for the Quibi streaming service.

“With Quibi, you trim the fat a little and get funny,” said Yarbrough. “Right for the funny morning meeting. Right for the funny joke that will happen. And exactly for the strange end. So the show [Reno 911!] could be a little fun this time. “

We recorded our interview in early April, long before George Floyd died on May 25 after a Minneapolis policeman pushed his knee on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes. Nationwide protests against racial discrimination and senseless violence have broken out in the weeks since then. Yarbrough, who grew up in Minneapolis, donated the family of George Floyd along with the rest of the cast of Reno 911! $ 10,000.

In our conversation, Yarbrough discusses everything it is like to film Quibi’s unique horizontal and vertical dual camera setup and performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC with his improvised stage show The Black Version, to be obsessed with the Netflix series Ozark and the musician Bill Withers who died on March 30th.
