  • A relationship study of over 2,000 people suggests that Android users may be better partners than iPhone users.
  • The study shows that Android users are less prone to disruptive phone habits that could irritate their partners.
  • However, an earlier study concluded that iPhone users are more likely to get data than Android users.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so many people have relationships on their minds. The people at Compare My Mobile decided to use this energy to research at the intersection of romance and technology.

The website conducted a survey of just over 2,000 people. The study asked questions about annoying phone habits and how those habits can irritate romantic partners. The relationship study suggests that, overall, Android users are less prone to these annoying habits than iPhone users. So it’s fair to say that Android fans can be better partners than iPhone fans.

Android vs iPhone relationship study

Below is a table listing some of the results of the study. The first column is filled with bad smartphone habits. The next two columns show the likelihood of iPhone and Android users running this bad habit. The last column shows the difference between iPhone and Android. Since these are bad habits, the lower percentage is the better:

Surprisingly, the bad habit that irritated people the most was talking on the phone during a TV show or movie. This was even higher than not replying to texts or liking other people’s raunchy social media posts. The study shows that iPhone users have a 75% chance of sitting on their phones while watching a movie, compared to 59% of Android users. Honestly we have to cut that to 0% folks. How hard is it not to look at your phone for 90 minutes ?!

Here is another relationship study chart. This time we see the numbers broken down by gender. The bad habits are also okay with the relationship faux pas folks above hate the most and the least hate below.

All in all, these numbers are hard to argue with. While Android users are certainly not immune to temptations when it comes to these uncomfortable phone habits, they are far better at avoiding them in literally every category compared to iPhone users.

Unfortunately, it isn’t all good news for Android users. Last year, Compare My Mobile conducted another relationship study that found that iPhone users were more likely to receive data than Android users. I suppose this shows that it may be more difficult for an Android user to find a partner, but when they do, they are more likely to hold onto them.
