- New findings suggest that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition could come to India under a different name.
- It can start in the country as a Poco F3 GT.
Redmi’s first gaming phone debuted in China this week with little official indication that it would be available elsewhere. Now it seems that the phone is coming to India under a different name.
Xiaomi tipster Kasper Skrzypek New evidence has been found that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition can be launched in India as a Poco device. The phone may be named Poco F3 GT as the two devices appear to have the same core model number.
This is not a big surprise either. Tipsters Digital Chat Station and The_Tech_Guy have merged points that connect the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition with a new Poco F model. A March FCC listing also suggested that the standard Redmi K40 should launch globally as a Poco phone.
Poco F3 GT: possible specifications
If Xiaomi plans to launch the phone as Poco in India, it could be one of the most interesting rebrands of recent times. The K40 Gaming Edition features a 1200 SoC, up to 12 GB of RAM, a 5,065 mAh battery and a 6.67-inch 120 Hz OLED panel. It’s unclear whether the K40 Gaming Edition’s key physical design elements – like the pop-up trigger buttons, LED notification lights, and JBL stereo speakers – will also make the cut.
There’s no word on when the Poco F3 GT might arrive in India, but don’t expect it anytime soon. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will go on sale in China later this month.
