Redmi 10 Prime to launch in India next month: A tweaked Redmi 10?

TL; DR

  • The Redmi 10 Prime is coming to India on September 3rd.
  • This is likely the Redmi 10 with a few minor tweaks.

Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi 10 last week (see above), and it seems like a good budget offer on paper for under $ 200. The company didn’t release any Indian launch details at the time, but it has now confirmed a launch date for the so-called Redmi 10 Prime.

The enterprise revealed a launch date is on September 3rd at noon (2:30 PM ET) and adds that the new phone will offer “blockbuster performance”. Check out the invitation picture below.

We expect the Redmi 10 Prime to be a Redmi 10 variant that on the one hand presumably offers more memory and / or RAM. This belief is confirmed by the fact that the Redmi 10 and Redmi 10 Prime share the same Bluetooth SIG list and very similar model number.

We also saw the Redmi 9 Prime released in India last year, which differs from the global Redmi 9 in that it has more RAM and storage in the base model, as well as a water-repellent coating.

Otherwise, the Redmi 10 comes with a Helio G88 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging power and a 6.5 inch 90Hz LCD screen. Redmi’s device also offers a 50-megapixel quad rearview camera system, although that 50-megapixel sensor is a more budget-oriented part than other 50-megapixel sensors on the market.

There’s no word on the Redmi 10 Prime price yet, but the Redmi 9 Prime was Rs 9,999 (~ $ 135). So it stands to reason that we would see a similar price tag for the new device.
