realme keeps reaching new heights, but what comes next?

The smartphone market is more competitive than ever. Everywhere you look, a new OEM is fighting for its chance to shine. Add in a global pandemic and it becomes even more difficult for a young brand to make a name for itself. Some brands may find such a setback impossible, but Realme rose to the challenge head on and has grown to new heights after such an uncertain year. The question is, how did Realme get here?

A short story with a long vision

Realme was launched a few years ago in August 2018 with a new goal – to offer future-oriented products with future-oriented design for young people. The company’s DNA is dedicated to young, real, stylish and outstanding products and so far it seems to be paying off.

In fact, Realme is the fastest mark to hit 100 million units sold, and it’s not slowing down. It plans to continue its foray into the high-end smartphone industry, and its three-year history offers a strong base of support. Realme already supports 61 global markets in Europe, Asia, Australia and more. How did this meteoric rise come about?

Better every year

A few weeks after establishing its brand values, Realme brought its first device to India. The Realme 2 reached two million sales during Diwali before reaching three million users by the end of the year.

By the beginning of 2019, realme had established itself in 10 other global markets and accelerated its European timeline and entered the continent at the end of March. 2019 proved to be a critical year for Realme’s expansion as it stormed into China with the Realme X, followed by Russia. By October, Realme had reached 10 million shipments, an 808% growth in just one year due to the early launch of the Snapdragon 7 series.

Realme ended its strong 2019 with the Realme X2 Pro, which received an Editor’s Choice badge from the team here at Android authority. It brought total deliveries to a whopping 25 million – well on the way to the 100 million mark.

Many smartphone brands started 2020 with high hopes, and Realme marked the new year with the launch of its Realme X50 5G. It was one of the first devices to take advantage of the Snapdragon 865 SoC and it showed that Realme will stay here.

During 2020, Realme pulled the cases off the X3 SuperZoom, 125W UltraDart recharge, and found itself among the top five brands in 13 global markets. At the end of a turbulent year, Realme surpassed the 50 million mark and is taking us to where we are today.

What does the future hold in store?

Realme is determined to keep a grip on the smartphone market and drive sales to new heights. As such, it has to offer top-notch specs to its next flagship device. This brand new flagship is the Realme GT Master Edition Series and has all the specs you could want.

For starters, the next phone from Realme will be light as a feather. It was designed in collaboration with the famous designer Naoto Fukasawa. It is only 8 mm thin and weighs only 179 g. The idea is that you can take your phone with you wherever you go without feeling like it gets in the way of your exploration.

We can also look forward to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 5G SoC as the centerpiece of the next Realme device. Of course, with this kind of performance and speed, you need realme’s stainless steel cooling system to achieve top performance.

As with any premium phone aimed at young consumers, the camera is an important feature. For this device, Realme turned to Sony and their flagship 64MP sensor. You will find optical stabilization, and this is the largest sensor realm ever used.
