Realme GT Neo 2 announced with nifty diamond-based cooling system

There’s a brand new Realme midranger out in the wild meant for gamers. Today, the Realme GT Neo 2 made its debut in China with a clean design, quick fixtures and a nifty gem-based cooling system.

Aesthetically, it is reminiscent of current OnePlus devices with a rectangular camera array on the back and a punch-hole selfie camera on the front left. The AMOLED display of the GT Neo 2 comes from Samsung and measures 6.6 inches from corner to corner. You also get a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 600 Hz.

This screen is powered by a Snapdragon 870 SoC with up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 2.1 storage. This package is kept lukewarm by a cooling system that uses a vapor chamber, graphene heat pads, and a cooling fluid with tiny diamond crystals. This cocktail supposedly keeps temperatures up to 18 degrees Celsius lower than other solutions, which sounds great in theory. In practice, it is unclear how much more effective this setup is compared to an active fan-based solution.

If you are looking for a solid camera phone, you still have to look elsewhere. You get a 64 MP primary shooter, an 8 MP ultra wide, and a 2 MP macro setup on the GT Neo 2.

In terms of power, the Realme GT Neo 2 has a 5,000 mAh battery that can be charged using the 65 W charging system. Realme mentions a time from 0% to 100% of 36 minutes.

Realme GT Neo 2: Pricing and Availability

The latest Realme device made its debut in China, and it is unclear whether it will be offered beyond national borders.

The Realme GT Neo 2 starts at 2,399 yuan (~ $ 370) for the 6GB / 128GB option, but this configuration is only available in green with a black stripe on the back. The price goes up to 2,999 yuan (~ $ 464) for the 12GB / 256GB option. It is noteworthy that the green, blue and black options with this combination are available in Realme’s Chinese store.
