Realme GT could be one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 flagships
- Realme has announced that prices for the upcoming Realme GT will match the 2020 flagship.
- The Realme X50 Pro sold for 3,500 yuan in China, 600 euros in Europe and 38,000 rupees in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 and Samsung Galaxy S21 are two of the cheaper Snapdragon 888 phones in the world. But it looks like another big manufacturer is aiming for the cheapest flagship crown.
Realme CEO Xu Qi Chase announced on Weibo that prices for the upcoming Realme GT flagship will be the same as last year’s Realme X50 Pro. The flagship from early 2020 had a Chinese price of 3,500 yuan (~ $ 516 then) for the base model, with European and Indian consumers paying 600 euros and 38,000 rupees, respectively.
That price suggests – if confirmed for other markets – that we might as well look at one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones in the world. The Mi 11 started at 749 euros in Europe and the Samsung Galaxy S21 in the US at 799 US dollars, in Europe at 849 euros, in the UK at 769 euros and in India at 70,000 euros.
A price tag of 3,500 yuan could also make the Realme GT one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones in its home market of China. The Mi 11 and Vivo Iqoo 7 are priced at 3,999 yuan and 3,798 yuan, respectively. And it looks like you’re still getting bang for your buck.
The Realme GT will include a QHD + 160 Hz screen, a 5,000 mAh battery with a 125 W charge, and a triple camera setup (64 MP + 13 MP + 13 MP). So if you’re looking for an affordable flagship with lots of bells and whistles, this device should keep an eye out.
With that, Redmi has confirmed that its Snapdragon 888-toting K40 series is on its way this week, starting at 2,999 yuan (~ $ 464), only to oust the Realme GT. Even so, affordable flagships seem to be back on the menu this year. However, we hope that Realme and Xiaomi also deliver competitive prices worldwide.
