The original PUBG – also known as PlayerUnknown’s BattleUrounds – is credited with kicking off the Battle Royale video game trend. Tencent finally ported PUBG with the fitting title PUBG: Mobile to mobile devices. Now a new game is on the way, PUBG: New State.

This is a very different game than we’ve seen before from the PUBG universe. It takes place at a different time, has unique features, and is the first PUBG mobile title made by the original development company.

What is PUBG: New State?

PUBG: New State is a mobile-only game in the PUBG universe. At launch, it is only available on Android and iOS devices.

The original PUBG is in the present (or something close to it). However, New State takes place in the not too distant future of 2051. As such, it will likely bring new characters and stories to the PUBG universe.

However, it is still a PUBG title and is played very similarly to previous games. You will be dropped onto a map and must fight your way to victory as you face dozens of other players.

When and where does the game start?

PUBG Studio wouldn’t set a specific date for the release of this new game. However, the company said it plans to launch in 2021. Apparently, the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on media launch dates, so there may be delays until 2022. Currently, however, the studio is sticking to a 2021 launch for PUBG: New State.

Once launched, the game will be available worldwide for Android and iOS devices. Unfortunately, it won’t end up in China, India, or Vietnam. This is likely due to issues that PUBG titles have faced in these countries in the past.

What are the unique features of this game?

The most notable feature of this new game is not the game itself, but the company that made it. PUBG Studios creates PUBG: New State, the same company that made the original PUBG.

The only other mobile PUBG title is PUBG: Mobile, which was created by Chinese gaming giant Tencent. This makes New State the only mobile game from the original development company.

The new PUBG game takes place in the future and features a new map, new weapons and new ways to interact with the environment.

Outside of development, New State will have features that other PUBG titles don’t. For example, there will be a weapon customization system that will allow players to change the appearance of their weapons during a game. This sounds similar to the system in Apex Legends. New weapons will also be available to reflect the futuristic environment, including drones and deployable battle shields.

There will also be a whole new map for the game. If you fall you will end up in a place called Troi. PUBG Studios promises new landmarks and interactive environments that should allow you to find unique ways to disable your opponents.

Finally, PUBG: New State is specially developed for mobile gaming. The developers promise “next generation graphics that excel
the standard for mobile games. “Players can also expect the same control experience that is“ easy to learn but difficult to master ”.

Will PUBG: New State end up on a PC or other platforms?

PUBG: New State is now specially developed for mobile devices. Hence, you should only expect it to land on Android and iOS devices.

However, it would not be ruled out to believe that a PC or console port could emerge in the future. Part of the competitive game Fortnite’s great appeal is cross-platform play. It is not unreasonable to assume that PUBG Studios would like to offer something that is comparable to its titles. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this isn’t the strategy and that this game will remain mobile-exclusive. We will see.
