It’s hard to find people these days who don’t cover their phones with a protective case. In fact, most people voted in a 2017 Statista poll to use a case for their phones. Fast forward to 2021 and smartphones have cases that don’t really inspire confidence in their durability. The use of glass backs has become popular to enable features like wireless charging, which makes phones more slippery and more prone to breakage. Even if you have a plastic or metal phone, dropping it on the corner almost always causes the display to crack.
Another reason you wouldn’t want your phone to go to command is because you’ve paid a pretty penny for it and you want to keep it working and looking good, even if it means hiding the exact design or color scheme, that attracted you in the beginning has place.
But there is another way of thinking too. Why should consumers, rather than the OEMs who make the devices, be responsible for keeping phones harmless? Lots of people including Android authorityC. Scott Brown’s would prefer to use a phone without a case. Eric Zeman from our team also enjoyed using his Pixel 5 without a case thanks to the phone
resin-coated aluminum shell.
