Poll: Would you buy a sub-$400 OnePlus Nord in the US?
OnePlus has been hinting at the release of future Nord phones in the US, and this seems increasingly likely with rumors of an N10 5G variant. If the reports are correct, Nord staples will ship like a 90Hz display and quad rear view cameras while the price remains under $ 400 – important at a time when cheap, yet powerful phones like the Pixel 4a are on Gain meaning.
However, it would not be without sacrifice. The N10 5G would reportedly switch to a Snapdragon 690 instead of the 765G found in the previously released OnePlus Nord. You could get an upgraded 64-megapixel main camera, but you’d still have the same 8-megapixel wide-angle camera as well as two 2-megapixel sensors which (to be honest) might not be very useful. If you were clear about the photographic capabilities of the existing Nord, the N10 5G wouldn’t change your mind.
This is a potentially difficult choice. Are you jumping towards the first inexpensive north in the US or giving it a pass while either waiting for a follow up or chasing one of its rivals?
The OnePlus Nord N10 5G may have advantages despite its alleged disadvantages. OnePlus is known for making Android quick and responsive with adjustments that often improve your real-world experience. The OnePlus core experience is preserved, and that could be vital if you just want the bare bones.
At the same time, there is little doubt that you are playing a little. OnePlus is relatively new to modern budget phones (the OnePlus X doesn’t count), and there were early reports of screen tint issues with the Nord. The question also arises as to whether or not it is the best way to use your money. For example, the Pixel 4a likely offers better photography, faster operating system updates, and exclusive (or pixel-first) features. It may be worthwhile to carefully consider your options before purchasing the OnePlus Nord N10 5G at the time of its release.
