Music streaming services surpassed physical media and digital downloads years ago in terms of sales and popularity, and it’s easy to see why.
Popular subscription services can cost anywhere from $ 5 to $ 10 per month and give you instant access to tens of millions of tracks by many artists. And many services also have decent recommendation engines and the ability to download tracks for offline listening.
Still, there is still something to be said about buying music. Whether you are buying digital downloads, LPs, CDs, or other physical media, there are several reasons to choose this route. So let us know if you still buy music through the poll below.
One of the main reasons you go shopping is that you own the music in question. So if you choose to end your streaming subscription, you will still have access to your favorite tracks. Streaming services occasionally lose access to music due to licensing issues as well – something you don’t have to worry about when you have the digital downloads or CDs in question.
Digital music downloads are also very handy when you have a device that doesn’t support your preferred music streaming platform. For example, Wear OS 2.0 smartwatches did not have access to YouTube Music or a full-featured Spotify client until recently.
