Polestar designed the 2 to include the battery in the vehicle structure. This not only ensures a stiffer body structure, but also minimizes the risk of damage. EV batteries are a different ball game in a crash, and when they catch fire they don’t burn like gasoline. It is important to protect the battery at all costs. For this reason, Polestar has supplied an aluminum housing for the battery and designed the battery so that it automatically separates from the rest of the vehicle in the event of an accident.

A nice advantage for drivers and passengers is that the entire setup also reduces noise and vibrations. The Polestar 2 should therefore be both safe and extremely comfortable.

When it comes to passengers, SPOC is here to protect and serve. Not Spock – SPOC stands for Severe Partial Offset Crash and refers to an aluminum block that is located on the front of the firewall on both sides of the vehicle. In the event of a frontal crash, the SPOC block minimizes the likelihood of something entering the cabin from outside, which should protect both the occupants and the battery. There are even interior airbags on the front seats to further protect the passengers.

When it comes to safety at lower speeds, Polestar has a range of active safety gear ready to respond and help the driver stay safe. It also features Volvo Cars’ latest driver assistance system, Pilot Assist. It can accelerate, brake and provide steering assistance at speeds of up to 100 km / h. The Polestar 2 has a new feature that allows the system to work with GPS to provide acceleration based on the position of the vehicle. Also, don’t be upset about technology that doesn’t work in bad weather. All 2 are supplied with a heated radar cover.

Production of the Polestar 2 started in China last month and deliveries will start in Europe for the first time. China is next on deck and the Swedish EV should come to the US by the end of this year Price of $ 59,900 before a target fee.
