Polar’s latest fitness watch tests your running and cycling performance

Polar Vantage V2 fitness watch is running

  • Polar released a Vantage V2 smartwatch that adds performance testing for running and cycling.
  • It also adds simple music controls and a leg recovery test.
  • It’s available now for $ 500.

Polar is updating its Vantage fitness watch. This time, the focus is on tools to help you measure your progress. The newly released Vantage V2 extends the familiar design with a number of tests that you can use to optimize your workout, as well as an advantage that makes these sessions more pleasant.

The updated fitness watch offers running and cycling performance tests, with which you can individually adjust your heart rate, speed and performance zones, according to Polar. You should know how hard your exercise has to be, to put it another way. There is also a leg recovery test to see if your body is ready or not for more exercise.

Accordingly, the Polar Flow analysis tools now include a test results hub that you can use to track your long-term fitness plans and progress.

The Vantage V2 is otherwise not a radical reinvention of Polar’s fitness watch formula. However, you get simple new music controls, making it a lot easier to add a soundtrack to your routines. Otherwise, it includes familiar tools like wrist heart rate monitoring, sleep insights, and outdoor routing. The V2 isn’t a full-fledged smartwatch, but it does give you weather and phone notifications.

Polar’s fitness bracelets are available now for $ 500, or $ 550 if you pair the watch with an H10 heart rate monitor. Much like high-end models from Garmin and other competitors, the Vantage V2 is aimed directly at athletes and enthusiasts who want advanced fitness data and can easily justify the premium. You will be better off with Polar’s Unite or an all-purpose smartwatch if you are more interested in daily activity tracking.
