All eyes are on the Google Pixel 6 duo. The first Google flagships to include an in-house chip and chic new design are now confirmed to introduce another feature in the Pixel range – faster loading.
A Taiwanese approval list discovered by XDA developer shows that the Pixel 6 Pro will actually replace the age-old 18W charging that Google phones have been supporting with faster 33W charging since 2016. Leaker Yogesh previously gave a tip on the information, but the latest listing makes it as official as possible.
It’s unclear if only the Pixel 6 Pro will get the charging upgrade or if the Vanilla Pixel 6 will also support 33W charging. What we do know is that Google doesn’t ship the phones with a 33W charger in the box. The company claims that people already have USB-C chargers lying around so the accessories don’t have to be offered. That means you’ll have to spend extra cash to buy Google’s new fast charger.
Rumors also suggest that Google might launch a new 23W wireless Pixel booth. It looks like the company is finally opening up to the idea of faster loading in a world where most Android OEMs have already taken over the function. Both Google and Samsung are behind the curve when it comes to wired and wireless charging speeds. With a charge of 33 W, Google won’t exactly keep up with Xiaomi, which offers a charge of up to 120 W. However, there is a mindset that such a fast charging speed can dump the battery faster, so charging at 33W isn’t a bad choice in the long run.
