TL; DR
- Google ran an ad for the Pixel 6 series that shows the phones in people’s hands.
- The devices are expected to hit the market in October.
Google stepped out of character this year to reveal the Pixel 6 series long before its official launch. With the upcoming launch of the new iPhones, the Mountain View company has also launched promotions for its upcoming flagships, which are slated to hit the market this fall.
A new Pixel 6 ad from Google (shown above) shows the phones in the flesh for the first time. We’d only seen renders for the devices so far, but the ad actually puts them in people’s hands.
Even so, the display starts with Android 12’s new volume control and asks, “What if your phone saw you for who you are?” Recordings of people handling real Pixel 6 color variants are spread throughout the video. At the end there is also a tiny clip of the new tensor chip.
Google also went to Instagram to promote the Pixel 6 series and posted an image showing the front of the phone with the new Android 12 UI.
There’s still no exact launch date for the Pixel 6 series, but a recent leak suggested the phones could be pre-ordered on October 19th. Then Google would probably make it official too. However, we have to wait for a message from Google to be sure.
