Pixel 4A and 4A XL wishlist: 5 features I’m hoping to see
The Pixel 4A and 4A XL are expected soon. Already in May 2019, Google started its line of budget cell phones as an offshoot of its flagship pixel line. Starting with the 3A and 3A XL pixels, the prices for the phones were hundreds of dollars lower than for the Pixel 3, as it lacked some key features like water resistance and wireless charging. Despite these compromises, the Pixel 3A doubled Google’s pixel sales by summer.
However, since we already passed May 2020 and Google would hold a press representative on June 3 and then cancel it, it is difficult to predict when we will see the Pixel 4A exactly. Nevertheless, here is exactly what we expect from his new budget phone. Since Pixel 3A, competing phone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung have had some success in launching cheaper models of their own flagships, and Google needs to reinforce them if it wants to remain competitive.
Pixel 4A should be the same price or cheaper
The main attraction of Google’s Pixel A line is the cheaper price. At first launch, the Pixel 3A cost $ 399, GBP 399 and AU $ 649 and the Pixel 3A XL cost $ 479, GBP 469 and AU $ 799. We expect Google to offer the Pixel 4A at a relatively the same price, especially since $ 399 seems to be a sweet spot when it comes to affordable phones from premium phone manufacturers. For example, the iPhone SE for 2020 and the Samsung Galaxy A51, the most advanced phone in the latest Galaxy A series, each cost $ 399.
However, there are rumors that the Pixel 4A could come onto the market at an even cheaper price. In May, Stephen Hall from 9to5Google tweeted that the Pixel 4A could start at $ 349 instead. I would never complain about paying less for anything (as long as the quality is the same), so this would be even more ideal. The handset would be in a better position to compete against iPhone SE and other competitors, and Google would attract more price-conscious users.
Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL seem familiar to me, but they are cheaper

Pixel 4A should have more internal memory
Wanting the same low (if not lower) price, but also asking for more internal storage is a contradiction, but this is a “wish list”. So why not? The Pixel 3A has 64 GB of internal memory with no expansion option. Google offers pixel users unlimited storage for Google Photos in high quality (which is lower than the original quality), but not everyone prefers cloud backups for their photos (like yours really).
At a time when we can take 4K videos, dramatic portrait photos, wide-angle wide pictures and funny GIF-like animated pictures of our friends, 64 GB just doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. It would be great if Google also offered a 128 GB option.
Pixel 4A: water resistance and wireless charging
A few years ago, water resistance and wireless charging on a phone were “nice to have” and they weren’t necessarily seen as crucial, but as a nice benefit. Although I still don’t think they’re very important, their ubiquity in so many phones has made them an expected feature. By including these additions, it would be another way to keep the phone competitive, considering that the iPhone SE, for example, has IP67 protection.
With that in mind, although it’s now too early to expect on affordable phones, I believe that an on-screen fingerprint reader is on the way to going from having “nice” to “standard”. In a few years, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it becomes an integral part of budget phones.
Return a wide-angle camera to the front
Given how much Google has emphasized the camera capability of pixel phones in the past, I definitely expect the Pixel 4A to be a first-class rear-view camera setup. But I also hope that the company will throw in a curve ball and also bring back a second front camera.
It is strange to hope for a Pixel 4A function that neither the Pixel 4 flagship nor the Pixel 3A predecessor itself do not have. But I’m just a big fan of the Pixel 3’s front camera and would love to see it return. When Google first announced it when the Pixel 3 launched in 2018, I knew it was useful, but didn’t think much about it. especially since LG previously had it on their cell phones.
But lately I’ve wanted to play with my selfies more often. At first it was because I wanted to capture more of the landscape behind me, but then I also realized that when we visit each other outdoors, my friends and I are further apart due to social distance in photos. It’s not a lucky fact that it is.
A bolder design
I guess it’s understandable that the design of the Pixel 4A can’t differ too far from the Pixel 4, but the look of Pixel phones is a bit stale and it would be great if Google messed things up. Rumors are circulating that the Pixel 4A will have a pinhole camera, which would be a nice, modern touch. But I would like to see a refreshed look and just a new color. Large changes to Google’s design language are more likely to be held back for the next Pixel 5, but one can hope.
