Pete Lau ‘leaks’ his own OnePlus Nord N200

We usually see established leakers pushing phone renders out of their official revelations beforehand. However, today we saw a OnePlus phone “leak” from a much more unusual channel: the company’s CEO.

Pete Lau sat down with me PC Mag to talk about the next budget phone in the OnePlus Nord line known as the OnePlus Nord N200. It will be a direct sequel to last year’s OnePlus Nord N100, which was the company’s cheapest, lowest performing phone of all time at the time.

As expected, the Nord N200 doesn’t deviate too far from the shape of the N100. However, according to Lau, it includes at least two features that the N100 lacked: an FHD + display and 5G support.

Take a look at the plaster Lau supplied PC Mag below.

OnePlus Nord N200

At first glance, the Nord N200 seems to be a crib from the Samsung Galaxy S21 and the OnePlus 8T. It’s far more innocuous, however: the phone is essentially a rebranded version of the Oppo A93 that launched in January this year. Note that the OnePlus Nord N100 (and its more expensive brother, the Nord N10) was also an Oppo rebrand.

Hence, this phone doesn’t have the iconic alarm slider that we associate with premium OnePlus devices. If OnePlus sticks to its no-nonsense rebranding strategy, the A93’s specs suggest the Nord N200 will have microSD card support, a headphone jack, a 48MP main camera sensor backed by two 2MP depth sensors, a big 5,000 -mAh battery and a Snapdragon 480. would have chipset. However, these internal specifications may differ slightly in the OnePlus Nord N200.

It is noteworthy that the phone also has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The Nord N100 had this too, but its display stuck at 720p. This time you get a 6.5 inch LCD display with an FHD + resolution.

Lau says the Nord 200 will soon hit the US market for under $ 250. Judging from the success of the Nord N10 and Nord N100, it should sell incredibly well at this price point.
