The Galaxy S20 FE is Samsung’s latest attempt at attracting flagship buyers who don’t want to spend $ 1,000 on a premium phone. When we reviewed the phone, we found it was great value for money, great design, and fast performance – all starting at $ 599. The good news is that Samsung has decided to release a Fan Edition version of its flagship models every year.
All of these factors got us thinking about whether or not you would actually rather buy Samsung Fan Edition phones than other flagship Galaxy S phones. This is how you voted in our survey.
Which Samsung Flagship Are You Buying?
Results
A total of 1,236 Android Authority Readers voted on the topic, which 58.5% said they would buy the Samsung Galaxy Fan Edition over any other S-series phone. If we were to apply these survey results to the current Galaxy S20 series phones, likely the majority of our readers would buy the Galaxy S20 FE instead of any other phone in the line.

Meanwhile, many respondents have also voted for the Vanilla Galaxy S series phone. In today’s world that would be the Samsung Galaxy S20. The results likely reflect that some people don’t want to spend more than $ 1,000 on a Samsung flagship, preferring the upgrades they get in a standard S-series flagship to the Fan Edition.
The Samsung Galaxy S Plus and Ultra models received the lowest number of votes in our poll – 12.4% and 8.2%, respectively. Currently, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is 45% more expensive than the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. That probably explains why there are so few buyers in our survey. The base variant S20 Plus was also over $ 1,000 at the time of the survey ($ 1,199 to be precise). However, right now the phone is being sold for the same price as the Vanilla S20 at $ 999. If you want to buy the Galaxy S20 now, you should consider the S20 Plus without having to pay more.
Your comments
- Anthorama: You start phones from 1000e and then worry about selling. How ironic is that?
- Phillip: Samsung has phones in every price range so not sure what you’re complaining about. All flagship phones are now $ 1,000, even OnePlus.
- Shizuma: I haven’t been interested in a Samsung phone since the Note 9. Everything in the past is full of compromises and sky-high prices. The tradeoffs are deliberately damaged screens with holes for no reason other than a useless screen-to-body ratio, a lack of a headphone jack, a massive camera tumor slammed onto the back of the phones like an afterthought, and a few other models, no SD card memory and no IR blaster further back. Basically, it’s a lot more money on a bunch of features that I don’t care about and missing features that are important to me.
- Gianluca Di Maggio: Well, for Europeans, getting their phones with a snapdragon seems like the only good way. In this case (S20 and variants) it’s more than just a nice alternative to the Exynos 990 plague.
That’s it for this week! Thank you as always for all votes and comments. Let us know what you think about the survey and its results in the comments section.
