Our readers’ love for Nokia is a complicated affair

Nokia was a mobile phone heavyweight long before Samsung and Xiaomi hit the market. Since then, the brand has changed hands, from Microsoft to HMD Global, and so has its philosophy. Now the brand recently launched its newest rugged device, the Nokia XR20, in hopes of claiming part of a niche market segment.
However, the response from our readers to Nokia and its new products has been rather tepid lately. To this end, we recently asked you whether the brand and its products are really still close to your heart in 2021. You told us that.
Are you still interested in Nokia smartphones in 2021?
Results
This simple yes / no poll garnered over 2,200 votes, suggesting that the Nokia name is still getting the tongues of our readers excited. The overall results also seem to reflect this.
More than three in four respondents (77.8%) admit that they will still care about Nokia smartphones in 2021. HMD Global may not have launched many exciting Nokia smartphones this year, and we’re still waiting for the long-awaited Nokia 9 PureView follow-up. Even so, a vast majority of readers still seem to have hope that the brand is headed in the right direction.
The comments suggest that those who currently use Nokia phones may still believe in the brand due to HMD Global’s software update guarantees, the phones’ relatively low prices, and the durable cases. However, considering the small percentage of users willing to comment compared to the number of votes in the poll itself, it seems that many readers do not care enough about expressing their thoughts.

- Atlanticboy35: I think my Nokia 4.2 is ideal for my needs. It’s not the size of a small TV, updates are guaranteed for three years, it runs Android One, and it’s cheap enough that if I drop it or lose it, it won’t mean the end of the world. I wish there were more such phones to choose from.
