Oppo launched its first smartwatch with Wear OS last year, and it looks like the company is preparing a more powerful successor. According to an analysis of firmware files created by tipster mlgmxyysd (via XDA developer) the Oppo Watch 2 could be delivered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus SoC.

When the Oppo Watch came out on the Snapdragon Wear 3100, Qualcomm had already introduced the faster Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoCs. The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 is the only smartwatch that currently uses the latest Qualcomm chipset.

The tipster also suggests that the new Oppo smartwatch get the Ambiq Apollo 4s coprocessor. Oppo developed the SoC together with Ambiq and recently confirmed at a media meeting in China that it will be included in its next smartwatch.

The second chip will apparently help the Oppo Watch 2 run a low-power RTOS in addition to the main operating system.

The leaker further reveals that the Oppo Watch’s second-generation software is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. China doesn’t run Wear OS, but the international model may get the software from Google like its predecessor. It’s unclear whether the device will get the revamped version of Wear OS that Google is developing with Samsung, or whether it will stick with the software as it is.

Elsewhere, the Oppo Watch 2 is expected to have seven models divided into 42mm and 46mm sizes. It could come with 16GB of storage, up from 8GB on the current model. The device is also recommended to support eSIM connectivity. The expected functions include stress detection, remote camera control, an optimized user interface and a new relaxation app. However, these results only refer to the Chinese model of the smartwatch.
