After introducing the OnePlus 9 series, the company turned its gaze to the popular and competitive mid-range segment in India. The company added the OnePlus Nord to its offering last year, and now rumors suggest the company may be targeting a competitor in the mass market.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed this at a recent media round table Android Authority that the company will introduce the OnePlus Nord CE as part of its summer collection. The phone is expected to be unveiled on June 10th. The device focuses on providing the “outstanding core functions” required for a product while at the same time bringing the unique OnePlus experience with it. The product is accompanied by a new smart TV that is part of the company’s OnePlus U-series budget.
The OnePlus Nord was a complete success for the company in India and helped OnePlus increase its market share by 200% year over year in the 4th quarter of the year. Lau went on to say that the OnePlus Nord made a significant contribution to increasing market share.
The OnePlus Nord CE launch comes at a time when the company is aiming for a premium uptrend for the flagship. While the OnePlus Nord strengthens the middle class, the Nord CE should give the company space to grow in the lucrative entry-level segment.
Later this year, OnePlus is also expected to expand its lineup of true wireless products to keep building an ecosystem. OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus Watch and OnePlus Band with less than excellent reviews.
