- Pete Lau, co-founder of OnePlus, says the company will invest heavily in camera features.
- He added that OnePlus aims to excel in camera quality.
The OnePlus 8 Pro was kind of a turning point for the company as it was arguably the first time a OnePlus phone offered a competitive camera experience. OnePlus doesn’t stop there though, as photography appears to be a major focus for the company.
OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau told a Weibo user (via GSMArena) that, according to a machine-translated version of its post, the company will be investing “enormous resources” in the camera space. The executive added that OnePlus wants to be number one in terms of image quality.
Players like Apple, Google, Huawei, and Samsung have consistently delivered great camera experiences for years. Meanwhile, Xiaomi and Vivo have also stepped up their game lately. OnePlus definitely has strong competition in terms of image quality at the moment.
Nevertheless, there is still hope for a significantly improved quality for OnePlus – all you have to do is look at Xiaomi. According to reports, a dedicated camera department was set up as early as 2018 to attract top players. These efforts have clearly borne fruit with devices like the Mi 10 series and the Mi 10 Ultra.
