- OnePlus has as good as confirmed its smartwatch plans.
- The company teased the launch of the so-called OnePlus Watch on Twitter.
- The arrival of the first teaser suggests that the start isn’t too far away.
OnePlus has finally confirmed that the OnePlus watch is real and will be out soon. The company posted a teaser on Twitter and suggested adding a smartwatch to its ecosystem soon. The announcement exactly followed the launch of the OnePlus 8T flagship.
OnePlus’ tweet (shown below) returns to his previous plans to make a smartwatch. The company experimented with the idea back in 2016. In fact, OnePlus not only had plans, but a finished product as well. It decided not to continue launch because it didn’t want to clutter its device lineup by adding a weak product just because most smartphone companies jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon at the time.
Well, it seems, OnePlus sees some benefits in adding a clock to its growing ecosystem of products. After all, sister brands Oppo, Realme, and Vivo have already entered the fitness wearables market, and OnePlus is the only one left out.
What can you expect from the OnePlus Watch?
We first heard about the OnePlus watch when it appeared on approval lists with that name some time ago. A former OnePlus employee also confirmed that the company has been actively working on a smartwatch for a year. However, this latest tweet marks the first time OnePlus has officially confirmed its smartwatch plans.
Now that the company has started teasing the device, it may hit the market before the end of the year. The teaser also suggests that the OnePlus watch could be launched in India before launching in other markets.
The OnePlus watch is expected to have a circular dial. No other specs are known yet, but we hope to see the latest Snapdragon Wear processor on it along with Google’s Wear OS software. You can read our OnePlus Watch wishlist here.
