- OnePlus has announced a release schedule and suitable phones for Oxygen OS 11.
- The Open Beta update based on Android 11 will be available this week in OnePlus Nord.
- The company will also update the OnePlus 6 and all later models with the latest software.
Over the weekend, OnePlus posted a forum post about when the latest Oxygen OS 11 update should be released for its phones. The Android 11-based software is currently available for the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8 series and, according to the company, will soon be extended to existing and older phones – in this case to the OnePlus 6 and higher models.
The first to receive Oxygen OS 11 this month is the OnePlus Nord. The phone was updated to Oxygen OS 10.5.10 last week, and OnePlus says it will initiate the first open beta build for Android 11 sometime this week. There’s no timeline of when the stable release will follow just yet, but the company says it will roll out gradually after gathering feedback from beta users.
Many OnePlus 7 and 7T users have also been eagerly awaiting the Android 11 update. OnePlus previously confirmed Android Authority however, that it would hit the phones before the end of 2020. However, the company states that it encountered a data encryption issue while porting the update to the phones. However, the company has been working with Qualcomm to resolve the issue and expects to release the first open beta of Oxygen OS 11 for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series shortly after the ongoing closed beta testing is complete.
For OnePlus 6, Oxygen OS 11 will be the third major Android update. The phone was released with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed and should only receive two major updates. So it’s nice to see OnePlus giving users an additional update there.
The OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, came with Android Pie and was therefore already in line to get Android 11. Finally, the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 are also in the queue to receive the software. The phone manufacturer states that they will provide more details on the update schedule for these phones at a later date.
