OnePlus phone, maybe OnePlus Nord N200, hits FCC

TL; DR

  • The FCC has just launched a new OnePlus phone, which could potentially be the OnePlus Nord N200.
  • However, it could be a completely different device. The model number DE2118 does not match previous OnePlus phones.
  • The Nord N200 is the phone we have come to expect next from the company in the US, so it would make sense for this listing to apply to this device.

The FCC is the United States regulatory authority for the approval of new networked electronics. When a product passes the FCC database, it signals an imminent US release date for that product.

With that in mind, we’ve just seen a new OnePlus phone pass the FCC. The device we expect next from the company in the US is the OnePlus Nord N200, as CEO Pete Lau confirms. However, it is difficult to tell if this entry applies to that phone or something else.

The model numbers listed by the FCC are DE2118 and DE2117. It is likely that one of the models is a T-Mobile variant and the other is an unlocked version. However, the “DE” prefix has not appeared on a OnePlus phone in the past, at least not as far as we can tell.

The OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 from last year started with a “BE” prefix. It is possible that the Nord N200 (and possibly the Nord N20, if any) have a “DE” prefix to indicate the updated list.

OnePlus launched a new Nord phone yesterday – the OnePlus Nord CE. However, this phone is not coming to the US so this FCC list is definitely not that.

We’ll probably find out exactly what that is in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
