OnePlus Pay could be finally stepping outside of China

OnePlus could be preparing to launch OnePlus Pay outside of China. A tipster has divided A screenshot of the trademark filing in India suggests that the payment service and digital wallet may be coming to the country soon.

Trademark registration for the service has been accepted by the Registrar of Trademarks in India. However, the listing description does not provide additional details or details of a start time frame.

OnePlus Pay was first announced in 2019 along with the OnePlus 7T. It was later only introduced in China without a word about wider availability. The mobile payment system works with NFC-based transactions and is compatible with Hydrogen OS in China. OnePlus has since switched to Color OS in China, and it’s unclear whether OnePlus Pay is compatible with the Oppo skin.

OnePlus has a decent market share in India and it makes perfect sense for the company to have its own payment service in the country. However, it will be a tough road to compete with Google Pay, Paytm, and other established payment apps in India.
