OnePlus Pad possibly in the works after firm files EU trademark

TL; DR
- According to a new trademark registration, OnePlus could work on its first tablet.
- When it starts up, the device is called the OnePlus Pad.
- Design, specifications and equipment details of the tablet are currently sparse.
OnePlus is apparently considering entering the tablet market. The company has registered a trademark with the EUIPO (h / t MySmartPrice) for the nickname OnePlus Pad, indicating the company’s first foray into slate.
The filing, published on July 1, doesn’t shed much light on what a OnePlus pad would include in terms of design, specs, or features. However, OnePlus’ intention to protect the title as a trademark suggests expanding its product lines beyond smartphones and wearables.
OnePlus Pad: a new tablet or a rebranding?
Rumor has it that OnePlus wouldn’t be the only BBK brand working on a tablet. In June, we received exclusive information about the Realme Pad, the brand’s upcoming slate. Rumors of upcoming Vivo and Oppo tablets have also surfaced this year.
It should be mentioned that the submission is not a slam-dunk endorsement of an upcoming OnePlus tablet. When submitting, OnePlus could stake its claim to the nickname.
