- The OnePlus Nord SE is a special edition phone with a new design.
- The phone may have the same specifications as the original Nord.
Shortly after OnePlus announced the Nord N10 and N100, a report from Android Central claimed the company was preparing another mid-range phone called Nord SE. The publication also suggested that the new phone would have a larger battery and faster charging speed compared to the existing OnePlus Nord. Now a new leak is pouring seemingly cold water on these claims and it looks like the OnePlus Nord SE might not be a new phone after all.
According to PhoneArena and tipsters Max JamborOnePlus Nord SE is nothing more than a special edition of the existing Nord. It supposedly borrows all of the major specs and features from the original Nord, except for its design. That means the phone gets the Snapdragon 765G chipset, a 6.4-inch AMOLED 90 Hz display, and a quad camera setup.
The release does not acknowledge or deny the specification upgrades reported in the previous leak above.
In addition, OnePlus is to work with the designer Joshua Vides for the new phone. The artist is best known for creating custom concepts for brands like Fendi, Converse, and others.
This isn’t the first time OnePlus has partnered with an artist to create custom merchandise. Most recently, the phone maker teamed up with Swedish artist André Saraiva for OnePlus 8 cases and covers in limited editions.
The OnePlus Nord SE is expected to hit the market in March 2021 alongside or around the same time as the OnePlus 9 series.
