TL; DR

  • A OnePlus 9 Limited Edition comes in lunchable-style packaging.
  • Only 15 units will be given away via OnePlus’ US Instagram account.
  • The phone and the accessories supplied are identical.

In an unusual back-to-school marketing stunt, the OnePlus 9 Pro is given a limited edition “snackable” packaging that mimics the Oscar Mayer lunchables that many students take with them in their backpacks.

OnePlus is giving away only 15 limited edition phones via its US Instagram account as of August 23 SlashGear reported. While OnePlus didn’t seem to have made a deal with Oscar Mayer, the packaging nods very much to the design of the lunchables, highlighting, for example, 5G support and a 120 Hz display as nutritional value.

Nothing has changed on the phone or its accessories. The only other things in the box are the OnePlus Warp Cable and Warp Charge 65T adapter that allows for 65W charging.

The 9 Pro was first shipped in March 2021. The flagship product from OnePlus uses a 6.7-inch AMOLED display and has other “premium” functions such as a 48-megapixel main camera and camera software developed in collaboration with Hasselblad.

The back-to-school season is an important goal for many electronics manufacturers. Many students rightly need new phones, computers, tablets, and other devices that provide the perfect opportunity to bring a new generation into a company’s ecosystem.
