OnePlus Health app lands without OnePlus Band yet

We’re sure a OnePlus fitness tracker is just around the corner as the company teased it pretty clearly. However, we still don’t know the name of the device or exactly when it will start.
However, we now know the app that is paired with the OnePlus Band (the adopted name of the tracker). The OnePlus Health app went live in the Google Play Store today (h / t) Android police). This app has all the features of a fitness tracker app and will almost certainly be the OnePlus Band’s companion system.
Unfortunately, we are unable to install the OnePlus Health app on any of our phones, which contains almost every OnePlus device that has ever launched. As such, we cannot try. However, screenshots of the app will appear on the official Play Store listing. These give us a good idea of what to expect – and from whom OnePlus obtained the app.
OnePlus Health: Just a ported Oppo app
The screenshots of the new OnePlus app show the predictable functions of a fitness tracker. This includes an assignment function as well as the usual health data such as steps, heart rate, etc.
They also give us an idea of the different watch faces the OnePlus band will support. The screenshots show five different faces, some of which are colorful and fun.
However, the screenshots make something very clear: The OnePlus Health app is only a ported version of the Oppo HeyTap Health app. The design, fonts, and images all seem to be the same.
Connected: OnePlus’ opposition is getting worse and worse
This is further proof that OnePlus is very comfortable when it comes to leveraging its sister brands from BBK Electronics for growth. OnePlus has always used the Oppo / BBK infrastructure to develop its various products, but it has not often been that obvious. When you combine this app with the recent launches of the barely renamed OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 smartphones, the lines between the companies blur significantly.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that the OnePlus Band is a simple renaming of an existing Oppo or other BBK product.
