OnePlus confirms Snapdragon 888 flagship is coming in first half of 2021

Qualcomm has announced some details on its new flagship Snapdragon 888 processor. We assume that it will power a large number of high-end smartphones in 2021.

An official OnePlus video on the Snapdragon Tech Summit website has now revealed that OnePlus will launch a flagship Snapdragon 888 in the first half of 2021.

“We believe that the technological innovation of this flagship platform in the 5G, games, camera and other aspects will help OnePlus bring a high-end flagship to the market in the first half of next year,” says one Manager in the video.

It’s no surprise to hear that OnePlus is working on a Snapdragon 888 flagship slated for this release window, as has been a tradition for years. However, it is noteworthy to get this endorsement from the brand itself. We expect the company to launch OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

Who else is working on Snapdragon 888 flagships?

OnePlus isn’t the only brand to confirm details on a Snapdragon 888 phone for the next year. Realme teased details and pictures of his race smartphone. Xiaomi also noted that the Mi 11 with Snapdragon 888 would be launched “very soon”, and Redmi GM Lu Weibing added that the Redmi sub-brand would also offer it.

Oppo also said in an official video that its upcoming Find X flagship will be SoC-powered and will launch in the first quarter of 2021. The brand previously confirmed that the Find X3 would have full support for 10-bit color.

Otherwise, Qualcomm showed a graphic on stage yesterday (see above) in which other device partners were named. Prominent names are Asus, Black Shark, Nubia, LG and Vivo.

It’s worth noting that names like Google, Samsung, and Sony are missing, but we wouldn’t read too much about them. For example, the 2019 edition of this graph didn’t list Google, Realme, or Sony, but only Google couldn’t ship a Snapdragon 865 series phone in 2020.
