Original article: Aug. 2, 2021 (3:22 p.m. ET): In a bizarre and potentially dangerous incident, a woman’s brand new OnePlus Nord 2 apparently exploded while cycling in her cell phone sling.

The alleged explosion was reported by the woman’s husband. Ankur Sharma, on twitter.

“This morning around 6 am IST my wife was cycling with her new OnePlus Nord 2 (5 days old) in her sling. Suddenly the phone exploded and smoke rose. As a result of this explosion, she suffered an accident. She is in trauma after this incident, ”Sharma’s said now deleted tweet then read.

An eagle-eyed Twitter user was able to take a screenshot of Sharma’s tweet describing the incident. As you can see from the screenshot below, Sharma has also attached some pictures of a burnt phone, supposedly the OnePlus Nord 2.

The OnePlus support account responded to Sharma’s tweet, saying the company was “gutted” from hearing about the experience. Sharma followed with an answer that said OnePlus had confirmed the problem and “already started testing”.

Meanwhile, OnePlus confirmed that the company has reached out to Sharma and is currently investigating the alleged North 2 explosion. The company emailed the following statement to Android authority.

We take such incidents seriously. Our team has already reached out to the user and is investigating further.

We also contacted Sharma on Twitter to review his complaint and get more information about the incident. However, we haven’t heard from him yet. Since the tweet was inexplicably deleted, we are not sure if the user is ready to discuss the obvious incident.

The alleged explosion of the Nord 2 has caused quite a stir on Reddit as people wonder whether or not the phone is safe to use. However, it should be noted that the authenticity of the incident has not yet been verified by the company.

We will update this article as we get more information on the matter from OnePlus or the user himself.
