OnePlus confirms major wireless charging upgrade for OnePlus 9 Pro
- OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 9 Pro offers 50W wireless charging speed.

OnePlus was one of the first brands to advocate faster charging technology, and we’ve seen big strides in the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T over the past year. Now the company has revealed what we can expect from the OnePlus 9 series when it comes to top-ups.
The BBK-owned brand stated in a forum post that the OnePlus 9 Pro will come with Warp Charge 50 wireless technology, which delivers 50W wireless charging speed. This leads to a significant improvement in paper consumption compared to the 30 W charging process of the OnePlus 8 Pro and connects it to similar devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 11.
OnePlus adds that with this speed upgrade you can wirelessly charge your OnePlus 9 Pro from zero to 100% in 43 minutes. The company also announced that it will be releasing a new dual-coil wireless charging pad that will allow you to charge in either portrait or landscape mode. Unfortunately, the company didn’t provide any wireless charging details for the standard OnePlus 9, suggesting that it either has much slower speeds or lacks wireless charging capabilities. However, both phones will come with 65W wired charging capabilities, the same as last year’s OnePlus 8T.
The OnePlus 9 series offers various hardware tweaks and software tweaks to improve wired charging speeds over last year’s phone. According to OnePlus, it takes 29 minutes for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro to load from 1% to 100%, which reduces the charging time of the OnePlus 8T by 10 minutes.
In case you’re wondering, the manufacturer has also announced that the 65W charger is included. And it has been confirmed that you can use the included charger to power the 50W wireless charger.
