OnePlus 8T will ship with Android 11 out-of-the-box
- OnePlus today confirmed that the OnePlus 8T will ship with Android 11, which is powered by Oxygen OS 11.
- That makes it likely the first non-Pixel phone to launch with the latest version of Android.
- The new phone lands on October 14th.
We learned early this morning that there won’t be a OnePlus 8T Pro this year. This was probably annoying for many OnePlus fans. But now we have some better news to get rid of the bad news: The Vanilla 8T ships with Android 11.
Of course, Oxygen OS 11 is skinned over the latest version of Android on this phone.

Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will launch tomorrow. This makes them the first phones to be launched with Android 11 on board. Unless another company comes around to steal OnePlus’ thunder in the next two weeks, the OnePlus 8T should be the first non-Pixel phone to launch with Android 11 on October 14th.
We already know quite a bit about Oxygen OS 11 as the company has been in open beta for a while. As a result, there probably won’t be too many surprises with the OnePlus 8T in terms of software. We can also expect Oxygen OS 11 to land on OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro (and possibly OnePlus North) very soon after the next launch.
For older devices of the brand, everything from OnePlus 6 (later) should (at some point) get Oxygen OS 11. This is not yet confirmed by the company, but its history shows it is a sure thing.
