The Redmi Note series is very popular in India because of its competitive price and solid feature set. The company has been teasing the launch of the Redmi Note 10 series for some time and has finally launched the new models.
We have the Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro (shown above) and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max in India, and the devices share a multitude of functions. All three have a similar battery size, the same 33 W charging solution with a charger in the box, side-mounted fingerprint scanners, 3.5 mm connector, IR blaster, IP53 rating, OLED screens and two stereo speakers.
Go to the Max
The Redmi Note 10 Max is the star of the show here. The biggest upgrade is a 108MP main camera (Isocell HM2). The camera is able to produce no binning effects and provides images that correspond to a 12MP 2.1 micron camera. Redmi adds that the phone’s camera app has a Night Mode 2.0 option for enhanced low-light snapshots, as well as a Magic Clone mode and long exposure option.
Otherwise, the rest of the quad camera setup consists of an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 5-megapixel telephoto macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth lens. A 16-megapixel camera in a centrally mounted hole cut-out processes your selfies and video calls.
Another reason to choose the Pro Max model is the screen, as Redmi now offers a 6.6-inch 120 Hz FHD + OLED display (with Gorilla Glass 5). In other words, you don’t have to choose between a high refresh rate or an OLED screen like we’ve seen on several other budget phones.
In terms of performance, the new phone has a Snapdragon 732G chipset, which is a slight improvement over the Snapdragon 720G that was seen in the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max last year. The phone also has a 5020 mAh battery, with Redmi advertising two days of usage. Your mileage can of course vary.
What about the Redmi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro?
The Redmi Note 10 Pro isn’t a huge downgrade as it shares a lot of DNA with the Pro Max model. In fact, the only real difference between the Pro and Pro Max is that the 108-megapixel camera is swapped out for a 64-megapixel sensor.
Otherwise, you still have that 120Hz OLED screen, 33W charging with a 5020mAh battery, 5MP telephoto macro camera, and the Snapdragon 732G chipset.
The standard Redmi Note 10 is a clear step down as it gets a 6.43-inch OLED screen (FHD +) and a brand new Snapdragon 678 chipset (with Adreno 612 GPU). However, there are a few other cuts compared to the Pro and Pro Max.
The Vanilla Redmi Note 10 retains the same 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel depth sensor as the Pro models, but comes with a 48-megapixel main camera instead of a 64-megapixel or 108-megapixel shooter. Expect a 13-megapixel camera to process your selfies as well, rather than a 16-megapixel sensor. You also miss out on a 120Hz refresh rate seen on the Pro and Pro Max.
Fortunately, the Redmi Note 10 has a 5,000 mAh battery, but unlike last year’s model, it charges 33W instead of 18W.
