Nothing confirms that its first product will arrive this summer
- Nothing will be bringing out wireless earbuds later this year. More products will follow.
- There is no word about whether these are standard wireless earphones or real wireless products.
Nothing is OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new venture after he left the smartphone maker late last year, and Pei had previously indicated audio accessories would be a focus for the company.
Now Pei has confirmed Bloomberg that one of the first products to be released by Nothing will be wireless earphones. The executive added that the earbuds would hit the market in the summer, with more products coming later in 2021.
“We are building an ecosystem of smart devices,” Pei was quoted by the news agency as saying. “We’re starting with simpler products, wireless earbuds. We’re going to have multiple products throughout the year, not just audio products, and eventually we want to build it so that these devices communicate with each other. “
It remains to be seen whether we should expect wireless earbuds (like the Pixel Buds or OnePlus Bullets Wireless series) or true wireless earbuds. Even so, the market is pretty stacked at this point, so any new entrant needs to stand out clearly.
Then how will nothing be noticed? Unfortunately, Pei refused to provide “specific examples” when Bloomberg the executive asked why investors and consumers should pay attention to the new company’s products.
